Greetings, my name is Derek Eberly, I have been fly fishing across the mid-atlantic for almost 20 years. I learned to fly fish on some of the most challenging spring creeks in south-eastern and south-central PA and spent many summers on the famous waters of northern PA. During the last two decades I have traveled all over our commonwealth to experience the bounty of fly fishing opportunities we have right here in Pennsylvania. In that time I have acquired a wide variety of skills, techniques, and approaches that I enjoy passing along to my clients and students. No two days on the water are the same and so I pride myself in teaching my students to be able to adapt and embrace the dynamic situations we find on the water.

Since 2013, I’ve operated Keystone Fly Guides as a fully insured and permitted guide service in Pennsylvania. I pride our service on working with clients to design outings that deliver unique experiences with personal attention to the needs of each angler. Our trips are built around a belief in quality over quantity. We focus on teaching skills and equipping our clients with knowledge to take with them on their own adventures. If you are into counting fish or measuring inches, we’re not your guide service. If you’re into learning new water, techniques, or how to cast better – we got you covered! As a competition fly caster, I can also help you build a more balanced outfit by helping you compare line types, tapers, and rods.

Currently I am working on my CI (Casting Instructor) certification from the IFFF. I am a certified casting instructor from the Wulff School. I am a Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission certified fly-fishing skills instructor. I was the 2013 Pa Fly Casting Competition amateur champion. I am the 2014 Pa Fly Casting Competition Pro Division Champion. I’ve placed in the top 3 at the Hardy Cup Bamboo Rod casting Tournament 3 times since 2015 and I continue to teach advanced casting methods during one on one classes. If you are looking to learn how to fly fish, improve your skills, or step up your casting game – I can help you. Please feel free to reach out to me through the ‘Contact Us’ page or you can find us on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook @keystoneflyguides
